“Curing" self-abuse

Masturbation

Masturbation was condemned by the Jews, Christians and Muslims because of a wrong reading of the Bible by overzealous priests (what offended God was Onan’s disobedience, not “spilling the seed”). And it was condemned by society because of a scientific error in the 1700, understandable at the time it was made but not corrected until too long after better knowledge was available (perhaps because it was so adequate to the religious teachings).

It was considered a sin and the cause of all kind of diseases, "consumption, deterioration of eyesight, disorders of digestion, impotence ... and insanity" (and growing hair in the hands? ).

As it was “found” that it was incurable in adults, masturbation had to be detected and eradicated in children as early as possible, and the fact that it was as sinful as sick is shown because, among the many "cures", most seem more punishment than treatment.

A child caught masturbating had to be corrected, for his or her soul and body salvation. As the corrections were focused in the offending organs, some of them can give us ideas for CBT games (cock and ball torture, or genital punishments). They consist on covering the genitals, and sometimes also the hands, with some irritating product, which application is painful and which leaves the organs too sensitive for enjoying touching them.

Safety

We don’t vouch for the safety of these treatments. Our trials seemed not to have had consequences, but we didn’t find medical information (of course) on the safety of using them on the genitals. If you decide to give them a trial, at least don't use repeatedly. Let all signs of previous uses disappear and an additional period for further recovering before punishing again.

Some people can be allergic to these substances, so test in some part of the skin of your subject, and wait for the reactions before applying them at large. And perhaps you should test a little on your own sensitive parts, just for having an idea of the feeling.

Capsaicinoids (the "hot" substance in chili peppers or Tabasco sauce) work by

making the nociceptors (nerve cells that react to damage to the skin) for noxious heat and chemical burns generate the same signals as if damage had been detected (that is why hot sauce is called “hot”, the brain feels as if the area is burning).

It is difficult to believe while you are punished, but capsaicinoids are used as pain relievers. After the initial burning the area gets numb for depletion of the substance that makes the cell react. And, as the capsaicinoids flood the cell with calcium ions, the cell finally dies, so the area gets less sensitive to pain.  But the Oleoresin capsicum, capsaicin in vegetal oil as the irritating component used in self-defense aerosols, has been considered safe. Perhaps because the application is short. So, don’t let the hot sauce too long, and don’t repeat the treatment frequently.

Be sure that the treatment is applied only externally, on men to the genitals, on women to the labia, on the skin and not on the mucosa. You should never introduce something organic (but for the organ intended for the purpose, of course) inside the vagina, because it could cause yeast infections which are nasty. And anything introduced in the anus, even if safer, will get into the blood faster and in higher doses that the same product ingested orally. We are not talking here of that kind of punishments.

As most of these products are oily, you should clean them with water and some detergent product, at least soap, as with water alone you will not get rid of them. And even after washing your hands, don’t touch near the eyes or nose. The effects last long after washing. You could also use milk, as it seems that the casein reduces the effect of the capsaicin.

We’ve read recommendations about not letting a mustard poultice for more than 20 minutes (it is used also for treatment of diseases), because it can cause blistering. We suppose the same could be true of oleoresin capsicum containing products.

And if you don’t want to punish yourself, use rubber gloves for application. These substances will irritate all the skin they touch.
