| Siebenstriemer (German) | (Westfalia, lit. seven thongs) A German version of the Martinet. In spite of the name, it could have between 6 and 12 tails. |
| Signal Whip (English) | Is like a snake whip but shorter (about 3 to 4 feet long) with a cracker ant the end. It is used for guiding the dogs that pull the sleighs. Is used by cracking it at left or right of the dogs, for signaling the changes of direction. |

| Slapper (English) | Slappers are made of two heavy leather straps that are sewn together but for the last couple of inches. Upon impact the first point hits the skin and the second hits the first, making a slapping sound.

| Snake Whip (English) |  A whip with the thong made of plaited leather ending in a fall. The main difference with a bullwhip is that, instead of a piece of wood, the handle has a shot loaded core that makes it flexible, so the full whip can be curled up into a small circle looking just like a snake. It is also usually shorter. |
