Calzador (Spanish)	The shoehorn, if long handled, can be used for punishment.
Cane (English)	The cane used in punishment is a rod of wood 2 to 4 feet long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. It is usually made from the stem of the rattan, a climbing palm (esp. of the genera Calamus and Daemonorops, that is not a actually a cane). It was widely used in English schools. In its longer and thicker versions it is still used in several countries for judicial punishments. See article. See also bamboo

Cat o'nine tails (English)	The traditional sailor's punishment instrument consisted of a handle about two feet long, made of rope or wood, an inch in diameter. To one end of the handle were secured the nine "tails," each two feet long and made of line a quarter of an inch in diameter. For serious crimes, like theft, the ends were knotted (see thieves' cat) Outside the navies, it was also made with leather thongs. See articles.
