Another classic. The guard should be somehow brutal, humiliating and
mistreating the prisoner. Hard labor, the whip on the bare back, tied to a
post or a triangle (a ladder can do, if tall enough), or the strap or a
birch rod on the buttocks, tied to a whipping horse (or a long bench, or the
like) are the punishments. The criminal could get a forced bath, perhaps
with a hose, under the
jailer’s custody.
The “prison guard” must have some kind of uniform, perhaps like the ones
recommended for a policeman; a (stripped) pajama can do for the prisoner.
The punishment can be delivered on the moment, or be delayed and formal.
If you prefer a younger prisoner, call it a Reformatory.

This is a judicial punishment.
The convict will be flogged for some terrible crime (being drunk, gossiping,
cheating on her husband (wife) or similar).
The victim is condemned to a specified number of stripes, put on jail for
some time (better in shackles and chains, but a rope could do). See
Ritual of the whip.
At the prescribed time she is brought to the place of execution (the
marketplace, or any room if there isn’t a satisfactory nearby marketplace.
Lately marketplaces were replaced by Malls. We don’t think them adequate).
She has to undress, or you tear her clothes, she is tied to the post or to a
ladder (or column, or whatever), and given slowly the number of lashes she
deserves, and then left tied for some time for the people to admire and
learn.
Little or no talk. Just harsh orders.
The prisoner is in the clothes of the agreed time, the executioner, with a
bare chest, tight trousers (better leather) and boots. If the prisoner is a
woman and the dress closes at the back, you could just open it and put down
the upper part. A partly dressed (or partly undressed, as you like) woman,
on her bare trunk, can be very exciting. And the prisoners depending on the
historical moment, were not always in the nude. Only the parts to be
punished were bared.
Or make it Roman. The executioner is replaced by a Roman soldier, the
culprit is tied with arched back to a low column (a chair can do, bind her
ankles to the front chair’s legs, and her hands to the back of the chair), and the
instrument should be a three-tailed whip (as the flagellum, but without the
metal dumbbells, please. You could also use a flogger).
In Germany the whip, used also on the buttocks, could be a
pizzle.
Like the previous but for using this instrument the culprit could be bent
and tied to a block (a chair or table will do), lying on a low bench long
enough (a bed can do) or bound to a triangle (easily replaced by a ladder).
The cane could be used in Eastern or Middle Eastern environment. In
fundamentalist Muslim countries this kind of punishment is used nowadays.
In England or Germany, the birch rod was as widely used in prisons.
In some countries, they use the cane also on the bare back, but they haven’t
read our Safety articles. You did (or
should), so you will use it just on the buttocks. And a thin cloth (perhaps
wet) could be used over the buttocks.
If in China, you could use the bastinado technique (it didn’t mean
necessarily beating on the feet in older times, it was delivered also to the
buttocks), hitting just hard enough for getting some reaction from your sub,
but for a long period and rhythmically. It becomes terribly hard after some
time, be careful. The prisoner should be laying on the floor or on a long
low bench.
Basically in the Middle East, but also in Turkey or Greece, after judgment and jail, tie her in the falaka position and beat her feet with a light cane, ruler, or similar. You could make it Far East and use the bastinado technique on her feet. See article.

This is the scene for using your dungeon. We are thinking on a medieval
scene, with the torturer in bare chest, with tight trousers, a hood covering
his head and face, and boots, the tortured with a ragged cotton dress, that
will be thorn (or at least, taken off, which is cheaper) during the scene.
She is tied with her arms up, or spread-eagled on a rack in the dungeon. If
yours is one of those modern houses that lack a dungeon or a torture rack, a
table, bed or a ladder laid on two chairs
could be used.
First she will be thoroughly searched for marks of the devil. They say the
witches have insensitive spots, you could try pricking here and there with
some pointed object (but do not puncture the skin). She will be forced to
confess by pinching, hitting on the feet, some genital torture (be careful),
and of course, the whip on the bare back. (A red-hot iron could be adequate,
but, being not sane or safe, is not allowed in our book).
Iron fetters or heavy chains could help, but you can use also rope.
I’ve never heard of a “torturess” working on a male witch, but go ahead
anyway.
And, for switches, what if the tortured is actually a witch and can cast a
spell on his torturer for rendering him/her defenseless and so allowing the
witch to take his/her revenge?
